Let’s Clear Things Up

Frequently Asked Questions

Here you’ll find answers to common questions about working together — covering topics like project timelines, pricing, hosting, maintenance, and what happens after launch. It explains how everything works before, during, and after your project, so you know what to expect every step of the way.

Getting Started

Do I need to provide anything before you start? (text, images, logo, etc.)

After signing our agreement, I’ll send you a short questionnaire and a Google Drive link for you to upload any materials you’d like me to use.

It’s optional, but providing materials will definitely helps speed up the entire process.

How long does it take to build a website?

Most websites are completed and live on the web within 3 weeks.

The first week focuses on planning, design, and gathering resources, followed by 1 to 2 weeks of development, and lastly setting up google business profile.

But the true timeline really depends on the project’s complexity.

You can learn more about the entire process here.

How many revisions do I get?

You’ll have three major revisions during the design and planning phase. Smaller edits, like text or image updates, can be requested throughout development.

Do you make e-commerce websites?

Not at the moment, but this service will be available in the sometime in the future.

Pricing & Plans

Are there any hidden fees or surprise costs?

No surprise or hidden fees — the price plan we agree on is the price you pay.

Future clients may see higher rates due to inflation and other cost adjustments, but your rate is locked in for the duration of our partnership.

Can I switch plans later if I change my mind?

No — each plan offers different service levels — for instance, the subscription plan include unlimited edits. If I’ve already done several weeks of edits under a monthly plan, switching later to a lump-sum plan wouldn’t fairly reflect that work or the website’s true cost.

How the subscription works

  • 12‑month minimum, then month‑to‑month. Cancel anytime after the 12 months have passed.
  • If you do choose to cancel, you don’t get to keep the site’s code/design (otherwise everyone would just do that and I’d be out of business!).
  • Want to come back later? You simply sign a new 12‑month contract and we pick up from there.
  • No buyout after the minimum. It generally takes 2–3 years (including hosting fees) to make what a lump‑sum project would have made up front. Subscriptions really shine when clients stay 5+ years — by then the site should be producing far more than the monthly fee in value, essentially paying for itself. This steady recurring income also lets me spend more time on client support instead of “sell, sell, sell” every month — and that’s how I keep the service high‑quality.

How do I pay, and what methods do you accept?

We send email invoices via SquareUp with a link to a secure payment page.

Subscriptions are paid with a credit card or debit card and we accept all major credit cards. Lump‑sum projects are paid via ACH bank transfer to minimize processing fees.

I do not accept checks or money orders.

Are there refunds?

When you sign a contract — either lump sum or subscription — if we cannot design something you are 100% happy with and you no longer want to move forward, we’ll refund whatever you paid to get started.

If we do move forward with building the site, there are no refunds after that point. From then on, refunds are at our discretion.

Hosting & Maintenance

Do you provide hosting, or do I need to purchase it separately?

Monthly Subscription includes hosting at no extra cost. Basic and Lump Sum plans are $25/month.

Do you handle domain registration & transfers?

Yes! We handle domain registration and transfers, and it’s included with every payment plan.

What does “lifetime updates” mean?

Over time, browsers, phones, and web standards change — and that can affect your website's appearance and performance.

Lifetime updates mean I’ll keep your website’s code current so it stays compatible and runs smoothly with the latest technology.

What does “unlimited edits” include?

Unlimited edits cover changes to text, images, and graphics, as well as adding or removing sections within existing pages — so you can keep your content fresh whenever you need.

New pages are not included. Adding new pages creates a cascading effect across the entire site — navigation bars, footers, metadata, and Google indexing all need to be updated.

Because of that, new pages are treated as a separate project and charged separately.

Performance & SEO

Will my website be optimized for Google search?

Yes — Your website will be optimized for Google search with On-Page SEO, Local SEO, and Technical SEO. You can learn more about the various types of SEO here.

Will my website load fast? How do you ensure performance?

Yes — That is a major benefit of custom coded websites. They have zero bloat or wasted code, they also don't contain 3rd party plug-ins that would slow it down.

I strong tool to verify speed and identify any issues that need fixing. The results consistently fall in the 90th percentile or higher, ensuring a fast and smooth experience for you and your visitors.

Is my website secure and protected from hackers?

Yes — Your site is fully custom-built with no third-party dependencies, making it highly secure.

Your site will be hosted on Netlify, which provides robust security features including SSL encryption, DDoS protection, and server-level safeguards.

As an extra layer of protection, I maintain regular backups for all websites, so if anything ever needed to be restored, it could be done so quickly and safely.

After Launch & Ownership

Who owns my website after it’s completed?

Once final payment is made, you receive a perpetual usage license. This gives you the ability to use, maintain, and modify your site’s structure and content through me.

The code and design itself remain my intellectual property, so it can’t be used, resold, redistributed, or transferred to another agency. You retain full rights to your websites domain and the materials you provided, while we retain ownership of the underlying work.

How do you handle future upgrades or new feature requests?

Small edits — like changes to text, images, or sections within existing pages — are included and can be requested anytime via email.

Larger updates or new features beyond the original scope are treated as separate projects. These are planned, quoted, and scheduled to ensure they’re properly integrated without affecting your existing site.

What if I want to move my website to another agency?

That’s not possible, as the work is my intellectual property and would remain with me. If you choose to move to another agency, they would need to start from the beginning with a new design and development process. Your domain, however, will always stay under your ownership.

What happens if I decide to end our partnership?

First, I’d hope we could discuss it to see if there’s a way to resolve any issues.

But if you do decide to end the partnership, the website will go offline. The design and code will remain with me, as it is my intellectual property. Your domain and any materials you provided at the start of the project will be returned to you.

Communication & Support

How do we communicate throughout the project?

You’ll receive periodic emails with detailed updates on the progress of your website. Any request related to the work itself will also be done through email.

For urgent matters, we can communicate via text or phone to address issues quickly.

Do I get to review the site before it goes live?

Yes, you’ll be able to review the website multiple times throughout the development process — during the design phase and again in the staging phase (on a test server), just before it officially goes live on the web.

Can you help me with marketing or social media strategy too?

While marketing and social media aren’t my main focus, I can provide guidance and suggestions. If you’d like me to create posts or other content, that would be considered a separate job and billed accordingly.
